Our Faith

img_2148The Statement of Faith defines the beliefs that guide the ministry of Midway Covenant Christian School. The doctrinal basis shall be that of the Biblical system commonly called “Reformed Faith” as expressed in the Westminster Confession of Faith together with the larger and shorter catechisms. In this light, we in our educational program stand committed to the following:

Sovereignty of God – God sovereignly controls all that occurs in His world and in His Church. His plans and purposes always prevail, nothing can thwart them.

Inerrancy of Scripture – God’s written Word, the Bible, is free from error and completely trustworthy. It is His Truth and the final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

The Triune God – There is on God, eternal and self-existing in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; and these three are the same in substance, equal in power and glory. They are to be equally loved, honored and obeyed.

God’s Creation of the World and Man
– The triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, alone has existed from eternity past and in His wisdom decided to create the universe from nothing. God spoke and it came into existence. Humanity did not evolve but was created by God. Man, male and female, was created with dignity in that he is made in God’s image and created in humility in that his purpose is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

2009-may-dop-257Fall of Mankind – All mankind participated in Adam’s fall from his original sinless state and is thus lost in sin and totally depraved.

Jesus, Savior of Sinners – Jesus Christ is the unique Son of God and the only Savior of sinners. He was born of a virgin and lived a sinless life. He purchased redemption by His substitutionary atonement on the cross. Jesus bodily rose from the dead, ascended to the right hand of the Father and He will come again in power and glory.

Justification by Faith Alone – Sinners are justified by faith alone. They don’t deserve salvation and they can’t earn or work for it. Justification is totally due to God’s grace and received by faith in Jesus Christ.

Empowering Holy Spirit – Every true believer in Jesus Christ is indwelt and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Final Judgment and Resurrection – At the Second Coming of Christ, the saved and the lost will be bodily resurrected and judged. The saved are resurrected to eternal life and the lost are resurrected to eternal condemnation.

  • Tybee Island Trip a Success!

The 7th grade took their annual trip to Tybee Island at the end of April. A great time was had by all! They had the opportunity to see and touch many of the animals learned this year in Life Science. The 7th graders spent a fun afternoon in the muddy marsh looking for Diamond Back turtles and Fiddler Crabs. The weather was a bit chilly but that did not seem to hinder anyone's effort or spirit as they used nets in the ocean to catch fish, jellyfish, & crabs. Their last evening was spent on the beach and fishing pier playing tag and having fun!

  • 5th Grade @ Rock Eagle

The 5th graders had a wonderful two days at Rock Eagle. We learned about God’s creation through exploration and many fun activities. Highlights of the trip include classes on lake ecology, orienteering, Native American games, and a challenge course. Students also enjoyed roasting marshmallows and making s’mores at the campfire on Monday night. It was a great experience for all of the students and chaperones.

  • Faith First SSO

Now is the time to start thinking about giving to the Faith First Student Scholarship Organization. This SSO has helped many Midway families in two ways. First, for many families it has provided them with the opportunity to give their children the valuable education that MCCS offers. Secondly, it provides an option for families to allocate their Georgia state tax dollars. By giving to the Faith First SSO, families are given a dollar for dollar tax credit on their 2012 taxes. If you want to participate, you should consider starting as soon as possible. There is a $50 million dollar cap that the state will allow for this type of tax credit. Last year the cap was met in November and could be met earlier this year. If you wish to participate, visit Faith First Student Scholarship Organization and check out their brochure on how to give.
