  • MCCS 8th Grade Returns from Washington, DC

The 8th Grade class returned from the their trip to Washington DC this week. This field trip is a highlight of our 8th graders middle school experience. In addition to touring the National Mall, the Capitol, visiting several museums, and admiring the monuments, this year’s class was able to go to Mt. Vernon and able to see a musical production at Ford’s Theater. This visit to DC will undoubtedly be an experience that each of these students remembers for a very long time. Mr. Moore worked very had to make this trip special for these 8th grade students.

  • Tybee Island Trip a Success!

The 7th grade took their annual trip to Tybee Island at the end of April. A great time was had by all! They had the opportunity to see and touch many of the animals learned this year in Life Science. The 7th graders spent a fun afternoon in the muddy marsh looking for Diamond Back turtles and Fiddler Crabs. The weather was a bit chilly but that did not seem to hinder anyone's effort or spirit as they used nets in the ocean to catch fish, jellyfish, & crabs. Their last evening was spent on the beach and fishing pier playing tag and having fun!

  • 5th Grade @ Rock Eagle

The 5th graders had a wonderful two days at Rock Eagle. We learned about God’s creation through exploration and many fun activities. Highlights of the trip include classes on lake ecology, orienteering, Native American games, and a challenge course. Students also enjoyed roasting marshmallows and making s’mores at the campfire on Monday night. It was a great experience for all of the students and chaperones.

  • Faith First SSO

Now is the time to start thinking about giving to the Faith First Student Scholarship Organization. This SSO has helped many Midway families in two ways. First, for many families it has provided them with the opportunity to give their children the valuable education that MCCS offers. Secondly, it provides an option for families to allocate their Georgia state tax dollars. By giving to the Faith First SSO, families are given a dollar for dollar tax credit on their 2012 taxes. If you want to participate, you should consider starting as soon as possible. There is a $50 million dollar cap that the state will allow for this type of tax credit. Last year the cap was met in November and could be met earlier this year. If you wish to participate, visit Faith First Student Scholarship Organization and check out their brochure on how to give.
